With branches across the Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire areas , our client is a market leading training company within the construction and engineering sectors.

Due to expansion and growth they are looking for an experienced , proactive and enthusiastic Functional Skills Trainer to join their team.

This is a great opportunity with a lovely business who offer flexible options surrounding hours. Whilst ideally they would like a full time worker , they are more than happy for somebody to work within the hours of 9am/9.30am – 3pm , making this role ideal for anybody who has childcare considerations.

Place of Work

Working across the sites in Swadlincote, Burton, Pinxton, Ripley & Staveley

Reporting to:

Quality Manager

Liaison Requirements: Operations Manager, Quality Manager, Tutors, Admin Team, Parents, External services.

Purpose of Job:

Prepare and deliver sessions both for in person sessions and remote sessions conducted online.

Deliver functional skills in both group lessons and on a 1-1 basis where necessary

Support all learners who may have a range of educational needs, ensuring that they can integrate as fully as possible in all activities alongside their peers

Responsible for the achievement of FS English and/or maths qualifications for an allocated cohort of learners across all of Chameleon school of construction sites

Responsible for the management of allocated cohort of learners through the supporting, monitoring, recording, tracking and regular reporting of learner progress towards the achievement of FS qualifications.

Responsible for the completion of the FS Individual Learning Plan for each learner within the allocated caseload.

Responsible for the delivery of tutorials on specific FS related subjects as agreed.

Prepare work ready for Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) activities as directed.

Work in conjunction with trade tutors checking for spelling and grammar errors.

To work with other colleagues as required and directed, to promote the embedding and achievement of Functional Skills into the main programme area

Responsible for the liaison of alternate provision overseeing.

Carry out administrative duties in regard to the alternative provision

Supporting Learners

To support & prepare for functional skills

To provide learning support for learners in both classroom and 1-1 situations

To develop the learner and seek advice from tutors & outside agencies as required

To aid access to the full range of learning experiences both inside and outside the classroom & provide modified material as required EG worksheets, games, visuals prompt cards etc…..

To make or modify resources as suggested.

To organise & maintain an inclusive learning environment across all centres

Provide positive reinforcements, praise and rewards to learners.

Facilitate inclusion in small group activities with peers & support interaction between them.

To attend relevant training & meetings in order to keep abreast and ahead of trends within FE

Supporting the business

To deliver functional skills as per agreed timetable

To build links between schools, colleges and parents/carers

To understand and apply the company policies on learning and behaviour alongside the statutory guidelines relating to disability, discrimination and special needs.

To maintain confidentiality and sensitivity to learners needs whilst always maintaining the safeguarding procedures of the company.

Act in the best interest of the company at all times and ensure that relationships with peers and colleagues are strong and transparent.

Prepare & plan for functional skills across all levels, developing resources, lessons and schemes of work.

Attend courses relevant to the post.

Motivate pupils to learn.

Motivate pupils to be sociable.

Maintain and create accurate records in relation to pupil learning and safeguarding.

Be a trustworthy & responsible role model.

Have patience, be flexible and innovative with a clear understanding of how children and vulnerable adults may behave when finding new learning concepts.

Respect and maintain confidentiality whilst having regard to safeguarding protocols

Work face to face and also deliver remotely

Other Requirements

Able to obtain a satisfactory DBS clearance

Own a car and be a holder of a valid driving license as there is travel across all sites.

Ability to work flexibly to meet requirements
